1. Clean, clean, clean and make it gleam! Every
room looks so much better when it is clean and
tidy. Bathrooms and kitchens especially need to be
immaculately clean. Start to pack away books,
videos, ornaments and photographs, it is much
easier to imagine yourself living in a property where
personal belongings are kept to a minimum. When
shelves are tidy and clutter free it can make a room
look bigger. You will have to pack these items for
the move anyway.
2. Check Lighting! The mood of a room can be affected by the lighting in it. Where possible get rid of strip lighting in kitchens, and replace with low voltage lighting. Have softer lighting in lounges and dining rooms- lights should be dimmable!
3. Best Reflection - use mirrors in narrow hallways,
above fireplaces and opposite windows to reflect
more light and give the feeling of space.
4. Little Darlings! If you have children try to pack
away as many of their toys as possible, various
colours of plastic will clash with any décor. The
garden space should be seen as a place to sit and
relax and can add value to your home, use the
space wisely, put garden furniture on display and
dismantle the trampoline!
5. Blooming lovely! A large bunch of fresh flowers attract the eye, give off a beautiful smell and will brighten up even the darkest rooms.
6. Odd jobs - Any small jobs that need doing you can be rest assured the potential buyers will spot and to achieve the best price for your property it would be wise to get them done before your first viewing
